Position Purpose

To serve as the classroom leader by providing a developmentally appropriate child care environment in which children can learn. The Lead Teacher is responsible for modeling best practices in early childhood care and education. He or She will create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans using Creative Curriculum, direct the work of other staff in the classroom, and maintain positive, supportive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Provide quality care and continuous supervision of children at all times.
  • Create and implement Creative Curriculum approved lesson plans and activities.
  • Maintain daily communication with parents through verbal and written documentation and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences to discuss child’s individual goals and progress regularly and as needed.
  • As functional supervisor, responsibilities include training, coaching, and assisting the teaching team in the classroom.
  • Evaluate classroom and individual progress by completing regular observations and assessments and recording outcomes.
